Their specialty is design build turnkey projects which involve a close working relationship with Fire engineers, Architects, Builders and where applicable the owner. The constant change and developments in construction design and techniques requires each project to be evaluated and the design and equipment selection tailored to the clients needs.

The recently completed Manukau Elective Surgical Hospital in Manurewa is a prime example of the need for co-ordinated input from all parties involved. Entire Fire selected specialist Fire Alarm equipment, Emergency Warning Intercommunication system and Fire suppression equipment that was engineered and integrated to provide the high level of sophisticated detection and evacuation demanded by an efficient Hospital unit. Due to the ambulatory condition of the occupants it was essential that only areas in the immediate vicinity of an incident were disturbed and Hospital staff have full control of the system to enable a decision to evacuate the premises to be made on the spot. By using only the latest technology it was possible to provide the flexibility and Life Safety features demanded by the Engineers, Hospital Administration and Fire Service.

On Aucklands’ Anzac Avenue the new 17-storey Unilodge Student Accommodation block presented innovative challenges to provide the Life Safety requirements of a modern High-rise building. Entire Fire worked closely with the Builder, Fire Service, and Fire Engineers to provide the first “Defend in place” protected building. The concept brought from the USA, and pioneered by Fire Engineer Tony Gibson, required an integration of the Fire Sprinkler system, Smoke detection system, Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm system with a Public Address intercom system to give the residents the option of evacuating the floor where the alarm is detected or remaining in the fire rated room.

The concept stops mass evacuation of the building until the Fire Service arrives to assess the situation and take appropriate action. The Fire Service has total control of the system to activate a full evacuation if needed. The use of Analogue addressable Smoke detection allows early warning to room occupants if smoke is present and allows the building operator to investigate the cause (usually burnt toast) prior to the main alarm activating.

By working closely with all involved in the project this new approach to Life Safety in a high-rise building was developed with cost savings and approved by the Authority having jurisdiction. False alarms are minimised and disruption to occupants limited.

Entire Fire has provided engineered solutions to many Fire Protection requirements and with the design team is available to assist with any Fire Protection challenge a modern building may present.
